Oberon M Frame

Oberon offers a variety of mounting options for attaching the M-Frame Universal Wi-Fi Access Point Mount in almost any location and environment. M-Frame accessories can be used to modify existing M-Frame models when the mounting location changes, for example from a hanging ceiling installation to a wall-mounted placement.

Additionally, the Model 1312-00, the only M-Frame model without included attachment option, can be ordered when some or all of the AP mounting locations have yet to be determined. In this case, the attachment accessories can be purchased separately as needed.

Oberon Retrofit Doors and Trims

Oberon offers a wide variety of retrofit doors for 105X and 107X series wireless LAN access point enclosures. These retrofit doors permit simple upgrades to new wireless equipment and antennas in installed enclosures.  Simply unlock the door, remove three nuts, and replace the door with the new retrofit door. The solution is still UL listed and plenum-rated.

A healthcare facility's top objective is to protect patients. Dust, mold, and fungal spores found in the plenum space above a suspended ceiling are very dangerous to immunocompromised patients.

Poking holes in, or lifting, ceiling tiles to pass antennas or cables is not acceptable in hospitals, as these openings in the ceiling readily pass dust and spores. Wireless access points should be mounted in an enclosure which permits access to the equipment, and connection to the data cable, without lifting or penetrating the suspended ceiling.

All college campuses feature Wi-Fi networks throughout their facilities. Wireless is mission-critical for instructional content, classroom programming, and overall lifestyle. The speed and integrity of the Wi-Fi network is a key selling point for many campuses when they are recruiting students.

Campuses with many buildings of various ages and construction, and a mix of venues from large stadiums to individual residences, create unique challenges for wireless network designers. Are Oberon products included in FCC E-Rate proposals?

Two categories covered by the E-Rate proposals are applicable to products such as Oberon mounts and enclosures for Wi-Fi access points. These are:

  •     Access points used in a local area network (LAN) or wireless local area network (WLAN) environment
        (such as wireless access points)
  •     Antennas, cabling, connectors, and related components used for internal broadband connections

 


The data on your network needs to be protected. Preventing physical tampering with access points is an important component of network security. Oberon access point mounting solutions and enclosures ensure that only authorized technicians can handle access points.

Wi-Fi access points are everywhere. Integrating them into building environments is a challenge for network designers and installers.

The default method for installing wireless access points (APs) is clipping them onto the ceiling grid or rail. Mounting the AP in the ceiling is ideal from a wireless coverage standpoint, but having the AP hanging off the grid is becoming less acceptable as it appears to be an unsightly or “unfinished” installation. Many end users, building owners, architects, and, quite frankly, installers, are demanding a more professional, secure, and aesthetic wireless AP installation.

Most hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces now have a Wi-Fi network for internal business processes and guest use.  Wireless is mission-critical for inventory and order processing, and guests will expect reliable wireless Internet access. The speed and integrity of the Wi-Fi network is key for many businesses, and will only become more vitally important to the business in the future.

The wireless network should be professionally designed and installed with appropriate regard to wireless coverage and physical security. Due to highly publicized security breaches in retail, APs should be locked up to prevent unauthorized access. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) requirement 9.1.3 states that the operator must “Restrict physical access to wireless access points, gateways, and handheld devices.”
