Blending Wi-Fi and Small Cell Access Points into the Environment Just Became EasierMarch 12, 2021
In many settings, wireless equipment is displayed and even highlighted, giving passers-by a sense of confidence in the technological capabilities of the space. In others, it is desirable to minimize visual disruptions to the overall design of a space. In these cases, Oberon’s new Model 1018-00 offers polite concealment of access points behind a low-profile, paintable cover, while providing the security and coverage required for optimal network performance.
Designed for use in drywall ceilings or walls, Oberon’s Model 1018-00 features an all-plastic recess box with vendor-specific mounting features for APs from Cisco and Aruba as well as a universal mounting T-bar. The cover of the mount sits nearly flush with the surface. Comprised of a thin PC/ABS composite plastic, the mount is virtually transparent to the wireless signal. The 1018-00’s cover comes in a standard white color to suit most environments, and it can be painted for a perfect match – or contrast – with non-metallic latex paints.
Installation of the 1018-00 is a quick and simple process. The recess box attaches to drywall using swivel fasteners with minimal hardware required. The AP, surface mount box, patch cord, and associated cabling can be organized inside the recess box. The paintable white cover snaps into place, easily blending into most ceilings or walls. Concealed attachment points provide the option to screw the cover into the recess box for additional security.
Oberon’s Model 1018 is designed to satisfy UL 2416 requirements for in-wall mounted enclosure systems using fire-rated plastic material for recess wall mounting. This mount uses impact-resistant and flame-retardant PC/ABS plastic and includes a UL Listed Conduit Connector to accommodate up to 2 Cat 6A cables. The full recess mount measures thirteen inches square and four inches deep.
