Oberon Founder Scott D. Thompson on Acquisition by Chatsworth Products

October 10, 2019

As the founder of Oberon, I am pleased announce the acquisition of Oberon by Chatsworth Products Incorporated (CPI). For the past twenty years, making wireless network installations better for our customers has been the company mission. And I’m happy to say that many of our staff members at Oberon have been part of the journey for a decade or more, and have been able to share their skill and knowledge in the field.

CPI is a global manufacturer of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and power products, and industrial enclosures. Oberon’s product line is very complimentary to the CPI product line. We sell through the same distributors, educate and market to the same integrators and installers, and service many of the same customers. Chatsworth is very highly regarded in our industry, and they are on a significant growth trajectory. We mutually believe that the combination of Oberon and CPI will have a multiplicative effect in our offering and benefit to the customer, and simplified solution set creation for our distributors, contractors, and integrators.

Since its beginnings in 1999, Oberon has become the recognized leader in mounting solutions for Wi-Fi access points. In 2003, we introduced the first locking ceiling tile enclosure for access points, now known as Wi-Tile™. Since then, the product offering has expanded to include H-Plane™ right angle wall brackets, Envelop™ recess wall and ceiling mounts, Hi-Bar™ surface mount lockboxes, Skybar™ outdoor NEMA boxes, NetPoint™ and NetPost™ Wi-Fi bollards, and now, in 2019, the M-Frame™ family of industrial access point and antenna mounting solutions. Each year, we have enjoyed rapid growth in new customers and sustained business from returning customers. We thank you- our end-user customers, network designers and integrators, contractor and installers, distributors, and representatives for the on-going business.

What does the Oberon acquisition by Chatsworth Products mean for you?

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chatsworth Products, Oberon will continue as a distinct entity, with the same leadership team, partnerships, products, and relationships with customers, distributors, and manufacturer representatives as currently exist. You can continue to expect the same high-quality products and service you have come to expect from Oberon.

In the long term, the additional resources and opportunities existing within the Chatsworth organization will provide additional fuel for Oberon’s growth in the future. Our past growth has always been directed by the needs of customers, who bring us their latest network installation challenges in search of new and evolving product solutions. Future growth will remain focused on the products customers need to ensure secure, convenient, and aesthetic wireless network installations.

Thank you

As we move forward to the next chapter for Oberon, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you who have been instrumental to Oberon’s growth so far – our customers, technology and distribution partners, staff and manufacturer representatives, and many more. I appreciate you all, and look forward to continue working with you for a long time to come.

Scott Thompson
